This building is the heart and headquarters of Lewis & Wood. Built in a valley south of Stroud, an area known for its industrial heritage and outstanding natural beauty.

The move to Woodchester Mill in 2008 was a massive leap for the company, expanding into the tide of a recession. But it paid off. The Mill became the perfect space to expand our operations and grow the company. At last we had the space for our own screen printing studio, warehouse and showroom. And by 2013 we had begun the switch to digital printing which changed everything.
 

Now we were able to design and print all our fabric and wallpaper under one roof without having to rely on outside studios and manufacturers. We took on more buildings, readily embraced digital print technology and with a talented team developed a nimble manufacturing model.
  

Everything could now be printed-to-order, with the added appeal of using a much cleaner process, involving no water at all and barely any waste ink. This opened up a world of possibilities.

First of all, printing to order freed us from the burden of unnecessary stock.

Then having our own in-house design studio complete with test printers meant we could now offer bespoke colours and custom scaling of any print to fit a designer’s vision.
  

We specialise in wide width wallpaper and because each order is specifically printed for a specific project we could now offer pattern-matched drops to fit that project precisely. This free-of-charge service has made an enormous difference to our customers, saving them money, reducing waste and making installation very easy. 

Another enormous advantage of digital printing is no design need ever be discontinued, just filed away until needed. This service has proved invaluable, allowing customers to use designs with confidence, knowing the product will always be available.
 

We have spent the last three years expanding and refurbishing, creating a new warehouse, studio and magnificent Top Floor space for workshops, designer tours and events. All in line with our ambition to be a modern, vertical, textile print company.

We are proud to say the company has grown 3-fold since those early days at the Mill and thanks to our wonderful team, every part of the process takes place here at the Mill and our fabrics and wallpapers go out to customers all over the world.

 
 

 
Right at the top of the Mill is 2,000 square feet of magnificent, light-filled loft space with a kitchen and a log burner.

We host all sort of interesting events here, from book launches and creative workshops to the occasional sale of discontinued and seconded goods.
